Legacy Families,

Yesterday, Governor Ducey released an executive order related to the reopening of schools in Arizona. After careful review of the order, we plan to move forward with our current return to school timeline, with in-person learning starting Aug. 17. As we receive additional guidance from the governor about school reopenings, we will communicate to you any changes to our learning options by Aug. 7. As a reminder, all students are required to start school online on Aug. 5.

Please read below for important updates on our Schoology 411 virtual meeting, laptop loaner program, online learning attendance policy, and more!

If you have any questions, please let us know by completing our contact form located here. You can also read more about our reopening plans on the Safe Return to School page and in our FAQs.

Sincerely,

Legacy Traditional Schools

Laptop Loaner Program and Internet Resources

Technology information for online learning

Whether you choose in-person or online for your learning option, all students will be required to start school online on Aug. 5. We want to ensure that all of our students have the ability to be successful in the online learning environment, so we want to provide you with some information regarding our laptop loaner program.

  • Our laptop loaner program is designed to provide families who don’t have technology at home the opportunity to borrow a laptop from Legacy.
  • Families will be able to keep the laptop for the duration of their online education during the 2020-21 school year.
  • We have a limited number of laptops available to check out to families. Therefore, we are only providing one laptop per family in need at this time. This may change as we determine final laptop needs of families.

If you did not respond with a need for technology in the survey we sent in June, we do not have a laptop on order for your child. Should you wish to be placed on a waitlist for a laptop, please fill out the following form.

Loaner Laptop Waitlist Request Form

Beginning Monday, Aug. 3, we will start contacting families who are on the waitlist if a laptop becomes available with instructions for how to check out the device from your campus. Please don’t contact your campus at this time, we will contact you.

We also wanted to remind you that students will need internet access to use Schoology, our online learning platform for the 2020-21 school year. If you need assistance with getting internet at home, check out this resource page.

Online Learning Attendance Policy

Good attendance = success

All students will be expected to follow the online learning attendance policy when school starts online on Wednesday, Aug. 5.

  • Until school may resume in-person, all students will be required to login to Schoology daily, Monday to Friday, to be considered present. Students may login at any time of the day.
  • If the student will be absent, parents must contact their Legacy campus attendance line and leave a voicemail or send an email to the attendance email account by 3 p.m. that day in order for an absence to be excused. An email to your child’s teacher will not suffice.
  • Phone calls and text messages will be sent at 4 p.m. each day to notify parents of absent students who are still showing as unexcused.
  • Students who log in between 3 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. will be considered present and their unexcused absence will be adjusted at the end of the week.

Once in-person learning resumes, students who have selected online learning will have additional attendance requirements, including the number of hours per week they must be learning online. To learn more about these requirements, click the button below.

TITAN and Free or Reduced-Meals Update

Important survey

Legacy will begin the 2020-21 school year with two weeks of online learning, and to help us prepare our food offerings for those initial two weeks, and to meet the health and nutrition needs of each student, please respond to our survey about your intent to pick up meals during online learning.

Online Learning Meal Pickup Survey

This survey is not an NSLP application. However, if you would like to complete a free or reduced-price lunch application, visit your TITAN Family Portal at family.titank12.com and submit a single application for all members in your household. Not sure if you qualify? Visit our Federal Eligibility Chart.

During the first weeks of school, parents can pick up lunch and breakfast for the following morning from Aug. 5 - 17 between 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Meals will not be free, but students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals will be offered meals at those rates. Students who do not qualify will pay the normal price for meals.

Students do not have to be with parents when they pick up meals. Families will need to bring student ID cards to every pickup so we may ring in student information. We will have student ID cards ready for parents to pick up during the first week of meal service.

If your child is participating in online learning during the first quarter, they will still be able to pick up meals from campus, once in-person school resumes on Aug. 17. We will have meals available for online student pickup from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. at all campuses.

School supplies

Edukits and online learning supplies

Edukits have arrived! Please contact your specific campus to arrange a pickup time before the start of school.

Students participating in online learning during the first quarter will need basic school supplies, i.e. paper and pencils. If you ordered an Edukit for your online student you have two options: Keep your kit and use it at home (you will need to contact your campus to arrange a pickup time before the start of school) or opt not to use the kit and receive a refund.

If you no longer want your kit, please visit the Edukit website, click the "Contact Us" button, and complete the form indicating you would like a refund.

You can find a full list of supplies by grade level by clicking here and scrolling to the bottom of the page.
