PBS Books HEMINGWAY Book Club Conversation PBS Books is proud to announce a book club conversation on Ernest Hemingway, in conjunction with the new PBS series, HEMINGWAY, premiering April 5-7 at 8pm ET. We are encouraging people across the nation to read a book written by Hemingway in March, watch the HEMINGWAY documentary, and then join us for a virtual book club conversation with the filmmakers the following day, April 8 at 8pm ET. Celebrating Ernest Hemingway's work and life, PBS Books will open a virtual exhibition on Monday, March 29, on PBSBooks.org. The exhibition will highlight unique Hemingway books and materials found at libraries across the country. In addition, it will include personal stories collected from PBS Books social media channels related to Hemingway. PBS Books encourages public media stations and community partners to share any content to include in its virtual exhibit.
Trailblazing American Women Writers PBS Books continues to present its Trailblazing American Women Writers Project with poet, writer, and activist Sonia Sanchez, in partnership with Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) on Thursday, March 18, at 8pm ET on Facebook Live. Attendees can also join the conversation on ZOOM (Passcode: 114304).
Sanchez is known as a leader of the Black Arts Movement, and has written over a dozen books of poetry, as well as essays, plays, and children's books. She is known as the first poet to use urban Black English in written form, using rhythm to change the world of poetry. Along with being a leader in the Black Arts movement, she was and continues to be active fighting for civil rights.
