Dear District 124 Community and Family Members,
Evergreen Park School District 124 will be closing its schools next week in a continued effort to protect our students and families from the potential health risks associated with coronavirus. Our school closings begin on Monday, March 16, and the buildings will remain closed at least through Friday, March 20.
Monday and Tuesday will be considered non-attendance days for students, as the administration and staff works to solidify the district's E-learning program. We plan to begin using E-learning days on Wednesday, March 18.
Pending the results of the survey sent to parents earlier today, the District will make iPads and Chromebooks available for student pickup on Monday, March 16, between the hours of 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Anyone receiving a District device on Monday will be required to sign an agreement taking responsibility for the care of the device. Paper copies of the online curriculum assignments will be available at the District Office beginning Wednesday, March 18.
As we have previously stated, the information the District is receiving about the coronavirus pandemic changes hourly. We continue to act in accordance with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control, the State Board of Education, and the Illinois Department of Health.
D124 will continue to communicate through email, text messages, on our website, and using social media to keep families informed of the plans that we will be putting in place to ensure the safety of our students, families, and staff members.
Thank you.
Sincerely, Dr. Robert Machak |
