Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you to all of our families for working alongside us today as we launched the first E-Learning program in history of the District 124. As with most things you try for the first time, the initiative has had its share of ups and downs, but I was thrilled to see how many of our families are willing and eager to participate.
Before I begin to address issues and answer questions I think it's important to reiterate that the bottom line for our District 124 students, families, and staff members is this: the purpose of our E-Learning Plan is to engage students on a day that they would otherwise be in school. By design, we want them to provide a great deal of flexibility and options for families. There are no specific times you need to be logged in, and no assignments that will be graded.
The curriculum was created as a resource for families in the hope that it will help our students continue to learn during these school closures. While we are working to resolve any technological glitches that arise (and we had a few today), please know that it is OK to move on to another assignment if the one you are trying to complete is creating issues. Please know that it’s also OK to spend an hour or two playing a board game as a family instead of doing all of the online assignments, and it’s OK to have a child engrossed in a great book for an afternoon. While we think the curriculum we have designed for all our students in Grades K-8 is engaging and interesting for all our students to complete, it’s also important that you know that your child does not need to complete every assignment.
Below we have outlined some other important points for families, as you continue the E-Learning process:
Sincerely,
Dr. Robert Machak |
