La conférence organisée le 23 janvier pour les 20 ans d'Unitec intitulée "Innovation Ecosystems" a fait salle pleine dans le grand auditoire du Campus Biotech. Plus de 300 personnes ont répondu à l'invitation d'Unitec et ont pu échanger sur le dynamisme de l'Arc lémanique en regard de la Silicon Valley ou de la "Start-Up Nation" Israël.

 Ce fut aussi l'occasion de remercier tous les acteurs régionaux qui contribuent à un tel dynamisme, en particulier les chercheurs et les spin-offs issues de leurs découvertes. Sans eux, sans vous, nous ne serions pas au top du classement mondial des transferts de technologies, merci pour cela !

SIMPLIFICATION DE VALIDATION DES CONTRATS ET MANDATS

Après avoir simplifié la procédure de signature des MTAs avec les entités sans-but-lucratif, nous sommes heureux d’annoncer que le Rectorat a validé une procédure également simplifiée pour les accords de service, basés sur des contrats standards pré-validés où les contributions des partenaires externes sont inférieurs à CHF 10'000. Pour mémoire, ces accords peuvent être signés par le/la responsable de recherche (ou P.I. en anglais) et par son/sa chef/fe de département  ou président/e de section.

La nouvelle procédure sera publiée sous peu (bouton à gauche).

DELAI DE SOUMISSION DES DEMANDES INNOGAP: 11 AVRIL

Unitec a créé le fonds de preuve-de-concept INNOGAP pour aider les chercheurs/euses d’UNIGE et des HUG à commercialiser les découvertes issues de leurs recherches. Le fonds INNOGAP augmente la valeur des inventions, améliore les chances qu’elles génèrent un impact sociétal positif et facilite les démarches de valorisation (licensing) avec des sociétés nouvellement crées ou déjà établies. INNOGAP offre un financement jusqu’à hauteur de CHF 30'000 pour des projets de preuve-de-concept ou de prototypage.

SOUMISSION BRIDGE DELAI : 3 JUIN

BRIDGE « Preuve de concept » aide les jeunes chercheurs/euses à trouver des applications pour les résultats issus de leurs recherches et à acquérir la confiance nécessaire pour une entrée sur le marché. Les projets peuvent viser toutes sortes d’innovations issues des domaines de recherches les plus divers.

BRIDGE permet de couvrir les salaires et tous les coûts directement liés à l’exécution des projets soumis. Montant maximum alloué : CHF 130’000/ an. Le financement est attribué pour une période de 12 mois, extensible de 6 mois au maximum.

Comment valoriser la recherche académique? Comment évaluer le potentiel commercial d'une découverte? Comment protéger une invention? Quels sont les principes mis en place par les institutions dans ce domaine? Comment un chercheur peut-il créer sa propre entreprise?

Pour répondre à ces questions, nous vous proposons un cours orienté sur la pratique qui a pour but de traiter les étapes successives (valorisation) menant des découvertes académiques du stade d'inventions en innovations mises sur le marché, y compris à travers la création de Start-ups.

The « Innovation Ecosystems » conference, which took place on 23 January to celebrate the 20^th anniversary of Unitec was a big success, with a “full house” in the grand auditorium of Campus Biotech Geneva.

More than 300 people attended the event and had the opportunity to exchange about the dynamism of the Leman Region innovation ecosystem in comparison with Silicon Valley and “Start-Up Nation” Israel.

It was also the opportunity to thank all the players at the regional level who contribute on a daily basis to this dynamic ecosystem; in particular the researchers and the spin-offs stemming from their discoveries. Without them, without you, we would not stand at the pinnacle of the worldwide technology transfer ranking.

SIMPLIFICATION OF THE VALIDATION PROCESS FOR RESEARCH CONTRACTS AND MANDATES

After having simplified the procedure for signature of material transfer agreements (MTAs) with non-profit entities, we are happy to announce that the Rectorat validated a further simplification for service agreements based on prevalidated standard contracts, where the third party contribution remains below 10'000 CHF.  As a reminder, such agreements can be signed by the Principal Investigator and his/her head of department or section president.

SUBMIT YOUR INNOGAP REQUEST FOR FUNDING BY APRIL 11.

Unitec created the INNOGAP proof-of-principle fund to help researchers at UNIGE and HUG to move their research discoveries toward practical implementation. The INNOGAP fund increases the value of their inventions, improves the chances of realizing societal benefits of research and enhance UNIGE's and HUG's ability to license them to existing or newly created companies.

INNOGAP can provide up to 30'000 CHF to help finance proof-of-principle or prototyping projects.

BRIDGE PROJECTS: DEADLINE JUNE 3

BRIDGE Proof of Concept helps young researchers to apply their research results and gain the confidence needed to make a market entry. The projects may target innovations of all kinds from all research areas.

It covers their salary and any costs that are directly linked to the execution of the submitted project; max. CHF 130,000 per year. Funding is for a twelve-month period which may be extended once for a maximum of six months.

How to bring to market academic research results ? How to evaluate the commercial potential of a discovery ? How to protect an invention ? What guidelines do research institutions put in place in this field ? How can a researcher create his own company ?

To answer these questions, we offer a practical course which aims at explaining the successive steps (commercialization, valorization) leading academic discoveries from the invention stage to mature stage of innovations available on the market. The course also tackles the creation of start-ups.
