Notice to Members
April 9, 2020, 4:30 p.m.
Dear Colleagues,
While the pandemic remains, it is greatly encouraging to see indications that the public health measures currently in place are helping to flatten the curve in Alberta. Let’s all continue to do our part by actively following public health measures.
Here is our update for today:
- Chiropractic care remains limited to urgent, critical and emergency care. The public health order issued by the Chief Medical Officer of Health remains in effect. Please review the Notice to Members from March 30, 2020 for more details.
We understand that the lack of a clear timeline is challenging to manage. We want to applaud all of you for continuing to demonstrate excellent professionalism by upholding these orders in this time of uncertainty.
- Watch for the opportunity to advocate for eligibility expansion for federal support programs. While the federal government has acted swiftly to support individuals and businesses, some programs for small businesses are inaccessible to chiropractors. Both the ACAC and the CCA are continuing to advocate for expanded eligibility for federal support programs for chiropractors.
The CCA will be launching a national campaign in the coming days to engage chiropractors in advocacy for these necessary changes. Please watch your email for details and participate right away.
- Please communicate options for emergency care to patients. We are receiving calls from patients looking for emergency treatment but cannot reach their chiropractor. If you are a chiropractor who has chosen to close, please inform your patients of their options for emergency treatment or refer them to a health-care practitioner who can assist them.
- COVID-19 updates from the ACAC will be delivered on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting next week. We have been purposeful in sending daily updates to keep members updated and aware of changes as they occur. As the flow of new information has slowed, we are going to reduce our communications to Tuesdays and Thursdays only, starting April 14, 2020.
- Trauma-informed training certificates are now available on your Member profile. You should see the credit you received for completing this training in your Members’ centre profile under the Continuing Competence tab, in your CC credit history. If you have not completed this mandatory training, you can do so on the ACAC website.
If you have completed the training but have not submitted your certificate to the ACAC, please send your certificate to certificates@albertachiro.com.
We hope this information is helpful. We are here for you always, and especially during this difficult time.
Be safe and be healthy, and we’ll connect with you again on Tuesday.
Warmest regards,
Dr. Todd Halowski
