NOTICE TO MEMBERS Clarification on International Border Testing Pilot Program Impacts on Chiropractors and Patients November 6, 2020 Dear Colleagues,
The ACAC received questions from members about the impact of the International Border Testing Pilot Program on a member’s ability to travel internationally, as well as direction on treating patients who are participants in the border testing pilot program.
The ACAC, and other health professions, have sought clarification from Alberta Health on how the pilot program directives impact health providers and their patients.
In a teleconference today hosted by Alberta Health and the Emergency Operations Centre overseeing the COVID response in the province, these questions were addressed for all health professions.
For Chiropractors As Health Care Practitioners, Chiropractors are not eligible to participate in the International Border Testing Pilot Program.
For Your Patients Your patients that travel outside of Canada, who are eligible to participate in the International Border Testing Pilot Program, are not eligible to attend a non-emergency health care facility for 14 days. Patients in the pilot program may call 911 or attend an Emergency Department as needed.
Members may consult via telehealth with these patients to address their health care concerns.
Essential workers such as airline pilots and truck drivers that are required to travel internationally for work are quarantine-exempt.
This information clarifies questions raised by health professions. It does not change any aspect of the existing ACAC COVID-19 Pandemic Practice Directive.
If you have questions related to COVID-19 protocols for your practice, please contact the ACAC.
Sincerely, Dr. Todd Halowski Registrar, ACAC |
