Weekly COVID-19 update February 11, 2021 A message from the Registrar Dear Colleagues,
I am sure many Albertans share the same sentiment regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and the current frigid temperatures. We cannot wait for them to be gone. Thank you for your continued leadership during the pandemic. Your efforts to support public health and to follow the pandemic practice directive have been key in ensuring that Alberta Chiropractors continue to practice.
This week’s communication will cover key COVID topics on vaccination and Alberta chiropractors.
Regards, Dr. Todd Halowski ACAC Registrar
Administration of COVID-19 vaccinations to health-care professionals We have received member inquiries asking what the ACAC is doing to ensure chiropractors, and their staff, will have access to the COVID-19 vaccine. “Finally, we know that doctors and other allied health professionals need to be included in the prioritization list. During the course of their workday, health-care workers and their staff are at risk of exposure. We need to make sure that Alberta’s primary care providers are prepared to respond to the millions of Albertans who will need to be vaccinated safely."
Information for your vaccine decision – register for the webinar Some members have questions about the COVID-19 vaccines.
The ACAC is working with a Medical Officer of Health and Infectious Disease Specialist from the 19tozero.ca campaign to provide information on the vaccines, answer your questions, and help to inform your decision regarding the COVID-19 vaccine. This information will be offered in a webinar, held on February 24, 2021 at 7 p.m.
The webinar is not intended for you to guide your patients in their own decisions. The ACAC directs members to refer all patient questions, consultation and education regarding immunization and vaccinations to the appropriate public health authorities and/or health professional whose Scope of Practice includes vaccination.
This weekly, Thursday morning COVID-19 update provides non-urgent, yet important, information and answers questions posed by members as part of the ACAC’s ongoing efforts to keep members informed about public health responses to the pandemic. If you have questions related to policy, procedures, control measures, safety, or any other topic pertaining to effectively responding to COVID-19 in your practice, please send them to registrar@albertachiro.com.
The next update will be February 18, 2021.
