NOTICE TO MEMBERS ACAC Direction for providing services under eased pandemic restrictions With the marked decline in provincial COVID-19 cases and the lifting of provincial restrictions, revised direction on practicing under eased pandemic restrictions was approved by Council on July 6, 2021. It is effective July 8, 2021.
Regulated members and their clinic staff are strongly advised to read the document before implementing any changes in your practice setting.
In preparing this direction, the ACAC consulted with Alberta Health, the provincial Emergency Operations Centre, and other regulated health colleges. Further, it has been developed with a focus on community-based healthcare clinic environments and balances the optimism of the current decline in case numbers with the reality that COVID-19 remains a worldwide pandemic. As such, a total return to pre-pandemic practice is premature at this time.
Council will review the direction in mid-August and may make adjustments based on advice from Alberta Health, the Chief Medical Officer of Health, and an understanding of what other regulated health professions are doing.
Chiropractors must continue to follow directions provided by the Chief Medical Officer of Health and the ACAC. Regulated members who are business/clinic owners are responsible to understand and develop biohazard risk mitigation plans for their business based on the requirements and guidance of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS). Regulated members are strongly encouraged to familiarize themselves with the Alberta Health Public Health Disease Management Guidelines as it relates to close contacts and determining risks and precautions in their clinic setting.
Requirements Regulated members must follow these requirements in their practice:
Recommendations Regulated members are strongly advised to follow these recommendations in their practice:
Practitioner Discretion Regulated members may determine these conditions in their practice. Strong consideration should be made by clinic owners to OHS requirements when developing policies that guide these decisions:
A frequently asked questions document has been developed and will be updated as required. The FAQ, along with other updated resources, is available on the ACAC website.
