IMTS Spark Smartforce Developments Showcase:

New DOD-Driven IACMI Digital CNC

+ Augmented CAM Workforce Training Program

November 17, 2020 | 4:00PM - 5:00PM EST | Virtual Event

There has been a chronic skills gap in U.S. manufacturing, but there are as many solutions as there are challenges. Tune in tomorrow –  Tuesday, Nov. 17 from 4 to 5 pm EST – to engage with experts and understand how smart industry-recognized standards and credentials, STEM programs, internships, mentorships and apprenticeships and new teaching tools are being deployed to solve the skills gap.

The IMTS Spark Showcase episode titled, “Smartforce Developments - New DOD-Driven Digital CNC + Augmented CAM & Bootcamp,” will feature a new hybrid program being launched by IACMI for CNC machining training that combines online learning and in-person machine time to deliver fast, engaging, and high-quality education to adults entering the industry. Students will complete online, augmented computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software training curriculum created by The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, followed by a hands-on, CNC boot camp at Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville.

The next generation training and education program is funded by the Department of Defense Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment (IBAS) Program from the Office of Industrial Policy and part of America’s Cutting Edge (ACE).  ACE is a collaboration between DOE and DOD IBAS to support state-of-the-art manufacturing by helping equipment manufacturers improve existing technologies, assisting end-users in evaluating cutting edge technologies, and working with U.S. machine tool manufacturers on new manufacturing technologies.
