ISSA Member Notice: Annual Wage Increase & Superannuation Guarantee Change

 

We’re reaching out to inform you of recent changes to Australian wage rates and superannuation. The Fair Work Commission announced a national annual wage increase of 2.5% for the minimum wage rates for Modern Awards, including the Cleaning Services Award. In making this decision, the Commission once again considered the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

When will the increases occur?

The increases will occur over three time periods, with the Cleaning Services Award increase classified under the first phase to occur on 1 July 2021.  Other Awards will increase on 1 September 2021 or 1 November 2021.

 

Who does this apply to? 

The increase applies to anyone who is paid the minimum award wage or national wage and this will come into effect in the first full pay period in July.  

 

Superannuation Guarantee

In addition, from 1 July the superannuation guarantee has increased from 9.5% to 10%.  Please ensure that you update this in your payroll systems.
